UPS and the Boy Scouts of America
UPS is a major corporate donor to the Boy Scouts. Ask the company
to stop supporting the Scouts’ anti-gay policies.
Zach’s Petition

The McGlynn,

UPS proudly
claims to be a strong supporter of gay rights — the company even got a perfect
score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. So why
did UPS give more than $160,000 to the Boy Scouts of America?

Zach Wahls
certainly believes that the Boy Scouts are a worthy organization — he’s an
Eagle Scout and the co-founder of Scouts for Equality. But Zach doesn’t think
UPS should be giving money to the Boy Scouts now that the Boy Scouts have
reaffirmed their discriminatory policy of excluding gay scouts and leaders.

Last month,
Zach started a petition asking the Boy Scouts’ biggest corporate donor, Intel,
to stop giving money until the Boy Scouts allow gay people. 48 hours and
30,000 signatures later, Intel affirmed that it would no longer give money to
the Boy Scouts.

Zach started a petition on calling on UPS to follow Intel’s lead and
stop all contributions to the Boy Scouts of America until gay scouts and leaders
are allowed. Click here to add your name.

Zach’s petition
is gaining momentum, even earning support from UPS employees and their families.
“My husband is a driver for UPS and our son is gay. Our household does
not support this!” says Kristi B.

Julie S., a gay
UPS employee herself, agrees: “Working at UPS, I do not feel discriminated
against because I am a lesbian and my partner is on my insurance.” Julie
says that stopping donations to the Boy Scouts until they accept gay people is
“the right thing to do.”

quickly Intel reacted after 30,000 people signed his petition on
Zach knows that if enough people sign his petition to UPS, it will follow suit
— sending a strong message to the Boy Scouts that its discriminatory policies
are not acceptable.
