Thomas Paine's version of "you didn't build that":
"Separate an individual from society, and give him an island or a continent to possess, and he cannot acquire personal property. He cannot be rich. So inseparably are the means connected with the end,in all cases, that where the former do not exist the latter cannot be obtained. All accumulation, therefore,of personal property, beyond what a man's own hands produce, is derived to him by living in society; and he owes on every principle of justice,of gratitude, and of civilization,a part of that accumulation back again to society from whence the whole came"

Conservative commentator George Will appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos Sunday Morning and took on NeoConservatives over the country’s military strategy in Afghanistan.
Referencing a letter from Marine Commandant General Charles Krulak, Will cited military support for his position. Will said Sunday, “we are going to have a debate and there will be plenty of brass on my side.”
From Krulak’s ( former Commandant of the Marine Corps) letter (PDF): General Charles Kurlak’s Letter to George Will
“I am in total agreement with your assessment. Instead of a surge of 21,000 troops, [we] would need a surge of hundreds of thousands. Not only would our nation not support such a surge, but, most distressing, the military could not support such a surge.”
Last week, Will made the case for getting U.S. forces out of Afghanistan. Will has also called for a withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
