My sympathy to all. Bud was a fine man, a veteran and a great gentleman. I felt his warmth when I had the honor to visit him.

Ralph J. Rodgers Jr. (Bud) 92, passed from this world Sunday, April 24, 2016. He was born July 27,1923 and raised in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Frances and Ralph Rodgers, Sr. A World War II veteran, he was wounded while serving in the European Theater. Following his recuperation, he settled in Leavenworth where his father was employed by the VA. Bud married widow Virginia Richardson Mura in 1949. She came with two little daughters who always felt blessed to have Bud’s guidance to adulthood. He worked at Kramer’s Manufacturing Company for over 25 years. He then worked with the Lansing School District until retirement in 1988. He enjoyed frequent breakfasts with other LSD retirees. He was a long time member of St. Casimir and St. Joseph Catholic Churches, the DAV, American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #55. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved Virginia of nearly fifty years, two sisters, Charlotte Rodgers Barrett and Mary Frances Rodgers Palmer, daughter Shirley Mura McGlinn, and granddaughter Jeanne Owens Drewery. He is survived by his children, Mary Helen Mura Owens, Patricia A. Rodgers and Ralph Rodgers III (Buddy); grandchildren, Michael Owens, Heather Locke Schreiber, and Ralph Rodgers IV, Matthew McGlinn and Maura McGlinn Webb. His great grandchildren are Anthony Owens, Tyler Owens, Nicholas Owens, Shea Owens, Sean Owens, Virginia Schreiber (Ginny), Beckett Schreiber, Riana McGlinn, Joshua McGlinn, and Eva Webb. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 am Friday, April 29, 2016 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to the Shirley Mura McGlinn Scholarship Fund in care of Immaculata High School.
