Bahrain?s opposition and pro-government supporters hold rival rallies

epa02815348 Loyalists hold anti US placards as they attend a rally in Busaiteen, north east of the Bahraini capital Manama, Bahrain, 08 July 2011. Bahrain’s opposition and pro-government supporters held opposing rallies Friday, as political tensions on the streets of the small Gulf island continue to rise. The two demonstrations took place just hours after provocative Friday sermons on both sides, and a day after limited clashes broke-out between opposition protesters and police forces in Bilad al-Qadem on the outskirts of Manama. The opposition said that it would continue to push for a fully elected government and attend National Dialogue talks despite its doubts, while the loyalists were highly critical of the US interference in local politics.
